Part of our sightseeing "tour" for $ spyed was a visit to Fuji Safari Park up near Mount Fuji. It is a wildlife park where you drive through various zones, along a predefined path, and see different animals. It starts with Bear Zone then on to Lion Zone, Tiger Zone and Cheetah Zone, among others.

We proceed to the Herbivore Zone and start watching this young giraffe feed on some food that is situated in a "bowl" at the top of a somewhat tall pole. This is done in order to facilitates making it easy for giraffe's to eat because of their height. We are literally about 3 feet (1 meter) from the giraffe with nothing but the metal and glass of my car to seperate us from this "wild" animal.

All of a sudden she turns around and looks directly at the car, peering in through the driver side window. She then ducks her head towards the windshield where she whips out her tongue and starts licking the window! After getting a taste for the glass she decided to run her tongue across the entire length of the top of the car and stops at the back window and licks some more, before moving along on her merry way. This whole episode lasted roughly 30 seconds and was the highlight of the day, leaving us all laughing hysterically.

With all that said, I was lucky enough to have already had my camera in my hand and was able to snap this picture during the 3 or 4 seconds she took to lick the windshield. Talk about luck and timing!
